Charity: Dementia Adventure

The Henry Sale Foundation granted funds to Dementia Adventure’s ‘Support Adventure’s programme’ which enables trips to be 25% subsidised, therefore making it possible for more dementia affected families to benefit from these wonderful experiences.

Dementia is one of the top ten causes of death in the UK - the only one without a cure. Sadly, a dementia diagnosis often leads to isolation indoors, resulting in an unnecessary decline in health and wellbeing.

Dementia Adventure thinks differently about dementia. Our research shows that with support, people living with dementia can remain active, keep connected to friends, family and community, and retain a sense of adventure in their lives.

We focus on the individual, not the illness, and promote ‘the possible’: removing barriers, improving knowledge and confidence, and increasing opportunities for people with dementia to access nature.

Dementia Adventure offers an alternative model of respite care: fully supported short breaks for people with dementia and their families or carers to enjoy together. We provide additional support, meaning the carer gets a break without having to separate from the person they care for.
